Our prices in general match the “street” prices from Fisheries Supply, Sure Marine, and Marine Sanitation, which we think are generally quite reasonable. (though we sell individual Scandvik hose clamps for less than Fisheries because we’re passionate about good quality hose clamps!) If you have a special discount somewhere, feel free to inquire whether we can match your pricing.
We are on a daily delivery truck route with Fisheries Supply, and routine deliveries with other suppliers.
Customer-supplied parts: Our goal is to not screw people over if they bought quality parts then realized they need professional help to reinstall them. However, the markup we get from selling parts we install covers our time doing background research, confirming the parts are correct before the job, confirming specs on the parts so we arrive at the job with correct wire sizes, fuses, hose barbs, and what-have-you. It also covers our costs for the occasional warranty.
To maintain the quality of work that makes us happy and is part of our brand, we still do that background work when a customer supplies their parts, and that work is harder because we don’t have their part sitting in our shop to tinker with and mull over in the time leading up to when the job is scheduled. Even with this background work, things can still go haywire: perhaps the box Fisheries sent you accidentally had the wrong part in it and that goes un-noticed until we arrive to install it.
As such, we increase our hourly rate by 10% if that time is spent installing customer-supplied parts.
We will warranty our work at no cost regardless of whose part we installed. For example, if we repaired a plumbing leak but you found water in the bilge again, we’ll confirm if the source of new water is the same leak, and repair it again if necessary. (if it turns out the leak is from elsewhere, the time we spent confirming our work held is still complimentary)
If there is a defect in a part we sold, we will warranty it at no cost (within limits of the manufacturer’s warranty period), including our labor to remove the defective part and install a working part.
If a part you supplied is defective and under warranty by the manufacturer, you can decide whether to handle that yourself, or to pay us at our regular hourly rate to handle part or all of the warranty process.
We may refuse to install a customer-supplied part altogether if it does not meet our quality standards, or for any other reason. We will discuss this with you and together decide how to move forward with the work.
